In response to the current global situation regarding the coronavirus (Covid-19), the organisers of Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles have decided to relocate the event to Brussels, Belgium, during the autumn of 2020,at a date due to be specified shortly.

“We want to keep the competition running this year, as soon as we return to a degree of normality. Producers will be in greater need than ever to position their products when the recovery occurs, in a year when most trade shows, exhibitions and commercial events have been cancelled. Relocating the competition to Brussels gives us more flexibility while easing logistical constraints, allowing us to guarantee that entries can be assessed without compromising judging procedures”, explained Thierry Heins, Director of Spirits Selection.

The 21st Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was due to be held in the city of Barranquilla, Colombia, from 18 to 21 August. Colombia, just like the rest of the world, is leading a relentless fight against the COVID-19 Coronavirus pandemic.  The District of Barranquilla has taken strict measures to protect everyone living within its jurisdiction, one of which is a ban on public or private events of any kind with a capacity of more than 50 people, which it believes will continue through to the end of this year.

“The health of our judges and staff is our priority. Spirits Selection by Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is an international event that brings together nearly 100 people for several days, and we could not put them at risk”, said Baudouin Havaux, Chairman of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles

The date for registration and shipment of bottles has been extended until August 31, 2020. Our various entry reception platforms remain open and producers are invited to consult our website where they will find answers to any questions they may have. (FAQ)
